John:

Whether you're hiking by stunning vistas, bird watching, or taking the
greenway to shop for groceries-there is something special about
being outside on the trail.

PS: Will you share what your favorite trail means to you?

A Big Win in New Mexico

[link removed]

Wildlife corridors are trails of a sort, and TPL's L Bar project has
protected habitat across more than 54,000 acres in New Mexico. That
means plenty of room for wildlife to move through areas that might
otherwise be broken up by development. Protecting this land (to open
on a future date) also guarantees public access, which is especially
important to members of Indigenous groups who value the area for its
cultural significance.

Creating Access for Riverside Recreation

[link removed]

In Graham County, Arizona, a donation of trail easements and the
recently completed, community-based master plan will provide the
foundation for the construction of a 5-mile linear park and trail
along the Gila River. This project will provide riverside recreation
access for local residents and increase ecotourism, benefiting the
nearby rural communities.

This Bike Path Fights Climate Change

We've teamed up with the city of Bridgeport, Connecticut, to
create a 20-mile greenway with an emphasis on climate resilience,
environmental justice, and recreation. Situated at low elevation in a
100-year floodplain, the city is at risk as storms get stronger. Our
Bridgeport Waterfront Pathway offers alternative transportation
options and a place to play while creating a more resilient city.

Preserving Vermont's Cherished Trails

Skiers and snowboarders know the Mad River Valley for its snowy
recreational opportunities. But summer's sunny skies and lush
vegetation bring hiking, birding, and other ways to play. These are
just some of many reasons we helped add 600 acres to the Green
Mountain National Forest, including a section of the cherished
Catamount Trail and portions of the iconic Long Trail's
surrounding forest.
