The Mercy Corps community voted and set a participation goal of 1,500
humanitarians coming together to make a gift this GivingTuesday. When we
reach that goal, a generous group of donors (including Frances from
Oregon, Joseph from Missouri and many others!) will MATCH all
GivingTuesday gifts — including yours — up to that $150,000 limit.

Our GivingTuesday campaign is community driven because community is at the
heart of everything we do. We rely on the communities we serve to tell us
how we can best support their needs, and we rely on our community of
supporters — to empower us to meet those needs through innovative
solutions, unique partnerships and steadfast commitment to making our
world a better place.

One of the biggest challenges facing families today here and around the
world is the climate crisis. As global warming, shifting seasons and
extreme weather worsen, we must come together to help people like Ika
whose livelihood is at risk. Your first gift to
Mercy Corps — $10, $15, $25, or whatever you can pitch in during this
special GivingTuesday match — will really help.

[ 2x ]2x impact on Giving Tuesday

Ika lives in a small house in a downstream community in Indonesia. She
says that the weather patterns have changed drastically since she started
living there just 17 years ago. "We used to know that there were two
seasons, the dry season and wet season. But now it has become unclear."

This unpredictability means the planting seasons are upended and
harvesting enough crops to make a living is no longer reliable. And when
her neighborhood floods — which happens with more and more frequency —
it’s too dangerous to get to the market, even to buy necessities.

Ika got involved with Mercy Corps by attending workshops and seminars on
climate adaptation. There she learned more about flood resilience and
waste management, and became a trainer who teaches people in her community
to make products out of recycled materials through additional Mercy Corps
workshops.

Many more workshops and trainings can be made possible in the months
ahead, when you help reach our ambitious GivingTuesday goal and unlock
this match.

world with your GivingTuesday gift. Your gift will help unlock our GivingTuesday match
to power 2X the climate education, emergency food, clean water and
poverty-fighting programs.

As you can see through Ika’s experience, our approach to the climate
crisis is special. In addition to giving people the tools they need, we
teach people what to expect, how to adapt and how to help others.

Thank you for celebrating GivingTuesday with a gift from the heart that
could unlock $150,000 in much needed matching funds to help the families
and communities we serve!

Sincerely,

Craig Redmond
