Friends,,
As we continue to celebrate Pride Month, we recommit ourselves to the fight for equal rights, and recognize the many contributions LGBTQ+ Americans have made to our country.
These historic achievements should be celebrated, and it is important that we remember that Pride began with Stonewall, and Marsha Johnson, Stormé DeLarverie, Sylvia Rivera, and the countless others who fought for equality and stood against discrimination and injustice.
We know how true it is that barriers to achieving equity and equality still exist, and we know that many of the rights, like the right to marry who you love, codified by the Supreme Court are at risk.
Our diverse communities are our strength. Every person deserves equal access to opportunity and equal treatment and dignity under the law. We must continue to be vigilant, and more vocal than ever to protect LGBTQ+ rights and to ensure we move forward.
I hope you’ll join me at Pride Month celebrations and events across the Fourth Congressional District and the rest of the state.
Let’s stand together and celebrate with pride.
