Hey John,
FOOD. FOOD. FOOD! If you love food, you CAN'T miss the December Vegan Popup this Saturday, December 7th from 1-4pm at the Berkeley Animal Rights Center! Come support local vegan businesses and enjoy burritos, juices, pastries, and more! See you there!
Here are the other events we have happening this week (all taking place at the Berkeley Animal Rights Center, 2425 Channing Way, unless otherwise noted). Action events are colored in blue and community events are colored in orange -- both are crucial to our movement!
- Wednesday, December 4th, 2:00pm: Pop Up Cube - DxE will be doing a Pop up Cube outreach on Sproul Plaza at the UC Berkeley campus! We will show footages of animal suffering from their perspective and how ordinary people are taking action to change the world for animals in one generation! We will be providing the blindfolds or sunglasses and TVs/laptops so bringing a device is not necessary. Anyone with any level of experience in outreach are welcomed and this is a great opportunity to participate in any capacity you feel comfortable with!
- Saturday, December 7th, 11:00am: Meetup: Saturday Morning Hangout - This Saturday we will get important updates on what has happened this last week and what is upcoming in the community and movement for animal liberation! We will also do something different and instead of doing a presentation on a specific topic, we will have tables set up for us to hang out, play board games, draw, and do art!
- Sunday, December 8th, 11:00am: Pigeon First Aid: December - Every day there are hundreds of birds throughout the city of San Francisco who have strings and hair tightly wrapped around their toes, causing immense pain. Eventually their toes lose circulation, become amputated, or develop severe infections. We can help our bird friends by removing the string before the damage becomes too serious, providing medical care, and releasing them back to their flocks! We will be meeting in front of Wells Fargo bank, at 3027 16th St, San Francisco, CA 94103.
- Sunday, December 8th, 11:00am: Organizer Training: Part 3 - Vision and Strategy - The third in a four-part series of workshops designed to give you the skills you need to be a leader in the animal rights movement. In this training, you'll... Understand DxE’s history, founding inspiration, initial campaigns, and development. Deepen understanding of DxE’s vision and theory of change. Understand the difference between theory of change, strategy, and tactics; gain knowledge of current tactics. Understand the importance of strategic nonviolence, disruption, and sacrifice. Understand the need for mobilization vs. individual consumer change.
Other events in the animal rights community:
