Changes to Supervision Requirements for LPCC General Method Applicants
*St. Paul, MN* --?
________________________________________________________________________
The supervision requirements for the LPCC General Method found in Minnesota Statutes section 148B.5301, subd. 2(c), are amended to allow all supervision hours to be completed in person or ?through real-time, two-way interactive audio and visual communication.?
*What this means for LPCC General Method applicants:*
* Supervision completed prior to March 2020 - Must be at least 75% in person. Up to 25% can be via telephone, audio, or two-way interactive audio and visual communications. This requirement cannot be waived.
* Supervision completed from March 2020 through May 2021 - Emergency Executive Order 20-101 was in place, so there is no limit on the number of hours that can be completed via telephone, audio, or two-way interactive audio and visual communications.?All supervision hours completed through real-time two-way interactive communication that was both audio and visual count as in-person supervision hours.
* Supervision completed from June 2021 through June 2, 2022 - Must be at least 75% in person. Up to 25% can be via the telephone, audio, or two-way interactive audio and visual communications. This requirement cannot be waived.
* Supervision completed on or after June 3, 2022 - Must be at least 75% in person, which includes supervision conducted through real-time, two-way interactive audio and visual communication. Up to 25% can be completed by telephone or audio.
"Note: This change only applies to LPCC General Method applicants. LPC and LPCC conversion applicants will need to request a variance [ [link removed] ] if they wish to complete more than 25% of their supervision via two-way interactive audio and visual communications. The Board is currently working to change the definition of in-person supervision for all applicants in Minnesota Rules chapter 2150."
