This week it finally feels like summer has arrived! Stay cool and enjoy all of the fun activities in our communities: festivals, art shows, tournaments, area swimming pools and parks are open! Check out your local Chamber of Commerce websites for listings of events.

Haley Kiwanis
I gave a Legislative Update and Session Recap to the Lake City Kiwanis on Wednesday and to the Red Wing Kiwanis on Thursday. I had great discussions with both groups! These organizations do so much for our community and I've enjoyed getting to know their members over the years.
If your organization would like me to come speak, don't hesitate to contact my office.

Legislative Update
Broadband bill enacted into law
A bill I co-authored to close gaps in broadband service across the state has been enacted into law. This bill was included in the agriculture an drought relief bill that passed the House and Senate late this past session. It will create a portal through the Office of Broadband Development for people to report when broadband is not available at their home or business, after which providers can bid to provide service.
I've already had the chance to help connect an active duty military officer's family to a network provider through this program and they should now be getting appropriate broadband so that they can homeschool their kids. I look forward to seeing the good this bill will do for the unserved and underserved parts of our state!
Breakfast on the Farm
Our local O'Reilly Organic Dairy will be hosting Breakfast on the Farm this Friday, June 17! The goal of this event is to show people how the dairy industry works and contributes to our local economy. Attendees will be able to see how dairy farmers operate, and where their dairy products come from. Breakfast on the Farm will be held at 33456 200th Ave. from 7-11am, Red Wing, and will feature local FFA members, the Goodhue County Dairy Princesses, and other agricultural business professionals! Thank you to the O'Reilly family for hosting this year!
