Federal Reserve’s Interest Rate Hikes Are Too Little, Too Late - President Biden’s Federal Reserve has utterly failed the working and middle class. Instead of acting to preserve the value of their earnings and savings, the Fed has robbed them of trillions of dollars in purchasing power through the hidden tax of inflation, the method by which the Fed has financed trillions of dollars in unfunded federal spending. These interest rate increases are simply too little, too late. The time to act was over a year ago and the Fed spent that time adding liquidity to provide Congress and President Biden with spending money, causing inflation and setting the nation on course for a recession. To restore price stability and long-run economic growth, the Fed needs to act aggressively and cut off the ‘free’ money to Congress and the president. Heritage Experts: EJ Antoni and Joel Griffith

By the Numbers: How Many Men in California Prisons Identify as Women - California’s prison population includes 1,115 biological males who say they identify as women, according to the state’s Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. About 1 in 3 in that population has requested transfers to women’s prisons, but only about 1 in 10 of those requests have been approved, the corrections department says. California’s prison agency provided the statistics in response to a Freedom of Information Act request from the Oversight Project, the government watchdog division of The Heritage Foundation. Biden’s Bid to Expand Obamacare Via IRS Is Illegal - resident Joe Biden announced on April 5 the IRS’ sudden reversal at an event celebrating Obamacare’s 12th anniversary. In his first White House appearance since leaving office, former President Barack Obama headlined that event. It was political theater. If the proposed IRS rule resulted from White House political influence, it will damage the reputation of an agency already tarnished by its refusal during the Obama administration to grant tax-exempt status to conservative groups. Puberty Blockers, Trans Hormones Connected To Rising Teen Suicide, Report Finds Easier access to puberty blockers and transgender hormones is connected to rising teen suicide rates, a report from the Heritage Foundation released Monday said. At a minimum, the results presented in this Backgrounder demonstrate that efforts to lower legal barriers for minors to receive cross-sex medical interventions do not reduce suicide rates and likely lead to higher rates among young people in states that adopt those changes. Heritage’s study found that after 2010, when puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones became widely available in America, suicide rates rose in states that had provided minors with easier access to them. By 2020, states with easier access to puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones saw 3.5 more suicides per 100,000 amongst people age 12 to 23 than those with more difficult access.Heritage Expert: Jay Greene

America and Russia are in a New Kind of War - The war against Ukraine has brought U.S.-Russian relations to their lowest point in modern history. Russia is demonstrating that it has no regard for human rights, nations’ sovereignty and territorial integrity, or nations’ right to determine their own future. Russian President Vladimir Putin clearly has imperialist ambitions. Ukraine did not provoke the war, and Putin likely would prefer to convert Ukraine into Russian territory once again. This is not another Cold War. There is nothing “cold” about naked, violent aggression. This is a new kind of war and the U.S. and its friends allies in the transatlantic community are going to learn how to fight. Heritage Expert: James Jay Carafano

A better, fairer way to handle student loans, by Rachel Greszler and Lindsey Burke - College is far more expensive than it should be, and many students graduate with significant loan debt. Worse, employers increasingly report that colleges are not equipping students with the education and skills they need in the workplace. Those are significant problems in need of solutions. But Biden’s plan papers over the fact that government policies are the cause of these problems. Student loan “forgiveness” will exacerbate these problems, not eliminate them. And it’s morally wrong, economically bad and educationally harmful. Heritage Experts: Rachel Greszler and Lindsey Burke
