You don’t need me to tell you that President Trump has abused his power and engaged in unprecedented levels of corruption and presidential profiteering. It’s the fundamental truth of this presidency, and we continue to learn more every day as the impeachment hearings reveal new and troubling presidential misconduct. Even if some people don’t want to hear it, it’s time to face the facts: if we don’t defend our democracy from his abuses, what comes next could be far worse.

Despite the staggering scale of Trump’s corruption, and his numerous abuses of power, CREW stepped up and has been out there since the start, investigating, taking legal action, advocating for real reform, and changing the national conversation. I joined CREW’s board because of their groundbreaking work over these last few years, and I’m excited to be a part of continuing the fight for accountability, especially as we enter a critical time for our democracy.

For Giving Tuesday today, CREW has a matching challenge, with a generous donor matching up to $25,000 until midnight tonight. CREW needs your help to take full advantage of that match today. Donate now and your gift will be DOUBLED and will go directly toward supporting CREW’s groundbreaking legal and investigative work.

Nearly three years into the Trump presidency, we’re seeing more and more value to CREW’s work. CREW has taken more than 500 legal actions to stop his corruption, and has tracked more than 2,600 conflicts of interest connected to Trump’s continued ownership of his businesses, serving as a critical evidence of his profiteering.

I’ve never been afraid to say what I think. Our democracy is in crisis, and it’s going to take all of us, working together, speaking out and telling the truth about this White House’s corruption and scandalous abuse of power. If you’re with me, and with CREW, I hope you’ll consider making a matched Giving Tuesday donation so we can continue challenging corruption and defending our democracy.

Thank you,

Senator Claire McCaskill
