John,
Water is a human right. But there’s a public health crisis across the country. Millions of people still get their water through lead pipes, which means they’re being exposed to a poisonous neurotoxin—particularly dangerous for children’s developing brains.
For years I’ve been building power in Congress and advocating for the $60 billion that we need to fully replace all lead pipes in the U.S. To that end, I recently co-created and have been growing the bipartisan Get the Lead Out Caucus in the House of Representatives.
In coordination with grassroots water rights coalitions, we just organized a tour of Michigan communities with lead contamination. As with a recent environmental justice tour in my district and communities across the state, members of Congress heard directly from community leaders on the ground.
By bringing decision-makers to directly impacted communities, we can get Congress and the federal government to act with the urgency we need.
We can’t wait any longer to protect our kids from poisonous lead exposure and to secure water as a human right. Inaction is inhumane.
Can you chip in $5 or more today to build our movement in Congress for clean water and environmental justice?
Thank you,
Rashida
