Friend,
Seven years ago this week, a white supremacist murdered [[link removed]] nine worshippers at a historic African American church in Charleston, South Carolina. It shook the world and inspired action. Today, birthed in the aftermath of the Charleston shooting, we mark six years of fighting to end gun violence in Black and Brown communities and reflect on the strides made since that heartbreaking act of hate.
Since our inception we’ve turned pain into purpose and are proudly leading as the largest Black-led organization working on gun violence prevention policies and advocacy in America. Through organizing neighbors, building diverse coalitions, and investing resources in people, we’ve harnessed the political power of communities of color to influence and make big change happen. We've worked tirelessly to center our communities to transform the national conversation on gun violence and have our voices heard on the national stage.

In recent weeks we’ve seen just how important our work continues to be through the horrific shootings that devastated the communities in Buffalo and Uvalde. Change begins on the ground and we know that progress for Black and Brown communities has never been easily attained, but our movement remains determined in our calls for safer communities and change.
Thank you for six years of supporting our mission to end gun violence in Black and Brown communities through bold legislation and community-based solutions. We are excited for the wins to come on this journey and look forward to building more power with you.
