A Dominican by birth and New Yorker by upbringing, he holds degrees from Princeton, Oxford, and Stanford. Community Change Award: Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights ICIRR has protected the rights of countless immigrants and refugees and has led system-wide change through its policy advocacy, community partnerships, and leadership in coalitions. Human Rights Practitioner Award: Elizabeth V. Lopez, Managing Counsel, United Airlines Elizabeth’s zealous advocacy and compassionate approach has positively impacted many lives. As managing counsel at United Airlines, she has encouraged others to provide pro bono legal services. Human Rights Corporate Award: Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP Skadden has provided pro bono support to more than 100 immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers in the last year, and has worked to create systems that enhance access to counsel and dismantle structural injustices.
