Hi friend,

With our 2022 Texas Democratic Convention officially one month away, I wanted to reach out to introduce myself. I’m Kiefer Odell, the Convention Director here at the Texas Democratic Party. Since January, I’ve been working around the clock to put on the biggest party in Texas, and I can’t believe it’s almost here.

Putting on our state convention is one of the most important things we do as a party. It represents the launching pad for all of our Democratic nominees going into the general election -- giving Texas Democrats from all across the state an opportunity to rally behind our leaders from the local to the state level.

Organizing an event like this for thousands of Texas Democrats is a special privilege for me. I staffed the 2018 Convention as Deputy Campaign Manager for Gubernatorial Nominee Lupe Valdez, and I will never forget the electricity in that building.

Since then I’ve spent the majority of my political career as a chief of staff in the Texas Legislature, witnessing firsthand how powerful it is when our Democratic lawmakers can come together for change. I hope when our lawmakers and candidates unite under one roof in Dallas next month, Texans will feel the energy I felt four years ago.

I can assure you that this year’s convention is not to be missed. Thousands of Texas Democrats will be coming together in person for the first time in four years, hearing from both the candidates and elected officials they know and love as well as the next generation of Democratic leaders, shining a light on the rising stars in our party.

Friend, while our convention is going to be the party of the summer, it’s also a critical stepping stone on the path to Election Day. Candidates up and down the ballot rely on the exposure and platform they get at convention to power their sprint to the finish line. Convention is a key ingredient to our recipe for success.
