I watched as a bearded dragon, a species of lizard, nestled his small body into another bearded dragon - perhaps trying to seek comfort from another of his own kind.
Because that was the only comfort available to him.
In a barren plastic box, he lay frozen as endless human hands reached down to stroke him, touch him. Then, he was lifted from the tub in the hands of his captors, to be passed around from person to person, all excited and squealing.
I thought he had seemed stressed before; I couldn’t imagine how he must be feeling now.
A living, breathing wild animal… treated like nothing more than a toy.
