Friend,
What’s on your child’s or family’s Christmas list? Sweater, Air pods, books, retail gift cards, games…
For 9-year-old Mackenzie, the list is simple: a meal, with her mom.
First, it was the job cut at her mother’s work, then, the eviction from their home, that led to their becoming homeless. They struggled for food while Mackenzie’s single mom desperately scrambled for a place to live. As holidays neared, and the town’s decorations went up, her mother agonized over the Christmas Mackenzie wouldn’t have.
It’s hard to have a Christmas tree when you live out of a car.
Then compassion took over. VOA donors stepped up and funded a program that gave Mackenzie and her mom resources to stabilize their lives, including grocery gift cards. That meant a meal with Mom. Mackenzie’s Christmas wish came true.
Please make a gift to VOA this Giving Tuesday, and help more people like Mackenzie.
It’s more than just the food, shelter, and services that VOA donations provide. It is the BELIEF that change IS possible, for a better life.
With thanks,
Volunteers of America
