The need has never been greater.
The mandate of the UN-backed anti-corruption commission (CICIG) in Guatemala ended in September. This is a blow to regional stability and human rights, undermining our decades-long support for anti-impunity efforts like this one.
Since the CICIG’s departure, corruption and attacks against defenders and reformers have continued to escalate.
Corruption and violence drive increasing numbers of desperate citizens to migrate. Sometimes, entire communities are forced to flee their homes. They often seek refuge in the United States—a contributor to the escalating crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border.
But with your help, there is hope: Change is possible if we focus on the root causes of these crises. This is the heart of WOLA’s work: being loud and relentless on both sides of the border, to stop such abhorrent policies and uphold human dignity.
More funds will help us continue to support anti-corruption efforts in Guatemala and across the Latin American region.
The alternative is unthinkable. Can we count on you to reach our goal of $5K today?
Please give now before the midnight deadline. Every dollar you donate will turn into $3, to go three times as far in our efforts to stand up for justice and human rights.
