Dear People For supporter,
Tuesday’s January 6th hearings revealed that Former Attorney General Bill Barr – otherwise a staunchly conservative partisan hack – denounced the former President’s claims about widespread election fraud as “complete bullshit.”
Unfortunately, the cancer of the Big Lie continues to spread and threaten the very fabric of our democracy. More than 100 Republican primary winners across the country are now backing Trump’s election lies – and many of them are candidates for offices that involve election administration! [1]
If elected this November, it’s clear they’ll pursue a far-right extremist agenda, including more attacks on our fundamental right to vote, subversion of election results, a nationwide ban on abortion and inaction on the intertwined problems of gun violence and white supremacist hate. They’ll also continue moving America quickly from the cherished democratic norms we’ve come to take for granted, down the very slippery slope towards fascism. We simply must not let that happen.
Will you join us in fighting back against the Right and its assault on progressive values, our democracy, and the American Way? Nobody is better positioned to fight back than we are right at this very moment.
To stop the cancer of the Big Lie from spreading further, in the coming weeks and months we must accomplish two goals:

Mobilize the public to make the ongoing January 6th hearings a Watergate-level moment in our national consciousness, and help ensure full accountability for anyone who participated in the insurrection and attempted coup; and
-
Resoundingly defeat at the polls in November anyone who continues to promote the Big Lie – and expand pro-democracy majorities in both chambers of Congress.
People For is uniquely positioned to carry out this work, with a dedicated Right Wing Watch team shining a spotlight on these far-right extremists – including their key roles in the events of January 6 – and more than 40 years of experience fighting to stop hate, defend democracy, and elect progressive leaders to office.
But as a grassroots-funded organization, we simply can’t do this work without financial support from good people like you.
