Hi JOHN,
After Donald Trump was elected in 2016, I set out to learn more about where our country was headed. So, I spent three months driving 12,000 miles in a borrowed RV that I named Lucille.
I talked with people who’d probably never had a conversation with a Black woman before. They shared stories about the skyrocketing cost of insulin. In return, I shared my story about paying for the multiple sclerosis meds that keep me in good health.
When COVID rocked our country and shed light on the inequities that many tried to ignore — income, education, justice, and more — I knew we could do so much better.
That’s why I’m running for Congress, JOHN.
The great people of Maryland’s Fourth Congressional District deserve better. Our district simply is not getting our fair share from Washington, but I’ve got the experience and fight in me to fix that.
I was the first Black woman to represent Maryland in Congress and I’m ready to head back to the House to deliver. I’m bringing the clout and experience to ensure our district has a seat front and center of the table where the decisions are made.
When I represented MD-4 from 2008-2017, I worked across the aisle to bring thousands of jobs to Maryland, fund HBCUs at historic levels, and expand STEM education in our classrooms.
I’m running now to build on the victories I won for this district and deliver on things that really matter to our community: Medicare for All, environmental justice for our communities, criminal justice reform, and securing the voting rights of every single one of us. It’s time we make the wealthy finally pay their fair share, so we can start bringing down the cost of living for our families.
I’m prepared to take on this fight, but I need your help. We’re organizing a grassroots movement from Fort Washington to Annapolis and everywhere in between and I’m counting on supporters like you.
The clock is ticking. With the primary election just a few months away, I hope you’ll join us in this fight today to amplify our district’s voices in Congress.
