If you’re like me, you’ve seen too much polarization in Washington in recent years and not enough real solutions that will benefit everyone. You’ve seen gridlock and discord. You’ve seen partisanship taken to a violent, dangerous extreme. It’s time for something different.

As the former leader of Hormel Foods (based in our family’s hometown of Austin), I brought people together through an inclusive and respectful culture. We created good-paying jobs for our community, expanded profit-sharing for our workers, and when there were problems to be solved, we did so together. I think we need more of that in Congress.

Friend, I’ve never been a politician. I decided to run for Congress in large part because of the events on January 6th, as I watched on live TV along with many of you as our democracy was attacked. Then, our elected representative in MN-01 still voted to decertify the presidential election. He tried to overturn the results of a free and fair election — to overturn the will of the people — because of partisan politics. I believe that our community deserves better.

Our nation was founded on the ideal that every single American has the right to participate in our democracy. It’s an ideal we must uphold to this day. I strongly believe the right to vote is sacred, and I will always stand up for it.

You can also count on me to work to make health care more affordable and accessible to every Minnesotan. I’ll strengthen our public schools and ensure they have the funding they were promised. And I’ll work to reduce costs for people all across Minnesota by strengthening our supply chains and furthering efforts to make more of our goods right here in America.

I’ve spent most of my adult life right here in Southern Minnesota. It’s where my wife, LeeAnn, and I raised our four kids — all of whom graduated from public schools, the same as I did. When my kids were young, I loved to coach them in baseball, basketball, and soccer. I never missed a game if I could help it. That’s the kind of dedication that I’ll bring to serving you in Congress, friend. I’ll show up to listen here in MN-01 and make sure your voice is heard in D.C.

I’ll bring respectful, inclusive governance and Minnesota values to Congress — and I’ll work with anyone who is ready to help me get things done for our people.
