Today, I officially filed as a candidate for Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina.

My mom and I didn’t have much money when I was young, but I was still able to get a quality public school education, right here in North Carolina. That education enabled me to attend a great college, earn my law degree, and help turn things around for my family. 

None of that would have been possible without a community that invested in me. 

Now, it’s my turn to invest in us. 

That’s why I am running - because I want to make sure that you, your kids, and your grandkids have the same opportunities that I had.

This primary will be one of the most competitive this cycle. We’re in for a hard-fought race, but it's a race I'm excited to run - and it’s a race we can win.
