With a staff of less than two dozen people, the Center for Immigration Studies has been instrumental in many of the changes that we’ve seen over the past three years, including key improvements in interior enforcement, security vetting, refugee resettlement, and visa rules.
Even Vox, the “explanatory journalism” site that is hostile to our point of view, reluctantly acknowledged this in a recent article: “The Center of Immigration Studies, which advocates for lowering immigration levels overall, has influenced many of the Trump administration’s restrictive immigration policies.”
We regularly consult with the White House and executive agencies, testify before Congress and educate lawmakers. We also punch above our weight in the media, competing with the much larger and better funded organizations pushing for an anti-borders agenda that creates fiscal deficits and social upheaval while marginalizing the most vulnerable.
We are the only research group making the case for a tighter immigration policy. As Peter Kirsanow, a member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, explains, “Their studies are indispensable to the work we do at the Civil Rights Commission and, in fact, indispensable to the discourse on the debate on immigration nationwide. Had it not been for the groundwork done by the Center for Immigration Studies our immigration policy would be radically different right now.”
