Dear Colleague,
Voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) for HIV prevention will be highlighted in a plenary presentation, a satellite session, and 31 presentations and posters at the 20th International Conference on AIDS and STIs in Kigali, Rwanda, from 2-7 December 2019. A schedule of these presentations is available on the Clearinghouse.
The 2 December satellite session, organized by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), and Jhpiego, will feature presentations and discussions about enhancing uptake of VMMC and sustaining services for 2020 and beyond.
A plenary presentation, “VMMC in an Evolving HIV Prevention Landscape: Evidence of Impact and Realizing the Benefits of Reaching Adolescent Boys and Young Men,” will be part of a special session on 3 December about what is new in HIV prevention.
Abstract-driven sessions on 5 December will include reports on continuous quality improvement of VMMC services in Malawi and the use of an e-learning platform to overcome traditional challenges to VMMC provider training.
Topics to be examined in 27 poster presentations about VMMC include sustainability, impact, safety, service integration, device-assisted procedures, financial compensation, VMMC and women, and reaching clients in specific age groups, such as older men and youth.
Best regards,
Clearinghouse Webmaster
