The evidence makes it clear: Trump knew he lost an election but he did not care. He was willing to do almost anything to keep power.
Here are just a few of the horrific highlights that have come out so far:
- “There was never an indication of interest in what the actual facts were…I was somewhat demoralized, because I thought, 'Boy, if he really believes this stuff, he has lost contact with -- he's become detached from reality if he really believes this stuff.'” ~ William Barr, former Attorney General for Donald Trump
- Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner testified that they agreed with William Barr’s assessment that the election was lost on election night 2020. William Barr also made it clear in his testimony that he and others understood that the ‘big lie’ was in actuality “bullsh*t”.
- Despite knowing he lost the 2020 election, former President Trump REFUSED to call off rioters – including members of the extremist groups like Proud Boys and Oath Keepers – and about the violent chants to hang former Vice President Mike Pence he said, “Maybe our supporters have the right idea.”
We can’t turn our attention away. We need to hold Trump and Republicans to their promise to serve the American people, not rule. American democracy is not up for negotiation.
