John,

A few days ago another oil company, Regenerate Alaska, backed out of its lease to drill for oil in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).

The move by Regenerate Alaska is the latest example of the industry stepping away from possible oil and gas development in the 19-million-acre refuge.

While this is great news, the fight is far from over. Many oil companies are actually doubling down by exploring drilling options right outside of the refuge. Big Oil & Gas’ lawyers and lobbyists are taking the federal government to court. They want to drill in the Arctic, one way or another!

Food & Water Action has been following this fight all along, and we intend to keep Big Oil & Gas out of ANWR. We won’t stop until we know that its wildlife and communities are safe! But to succeed, we need you. A donation of $35 — or any amount — will grow our policy work so that we can stop Big Oil & Gas from drilling on public lands and keep them accountable for the destruction of our planet. Donate now!

ANWR is home to polar bears, hundreds of rare bird species and eight marine mammal species — not to mention some of North America’s other iconic species, like caribou, muskoxen, moose and wolves. ANWR is also essential to the traditional way of life of the Indigenous people who have lived there for millennia. Oil and gas drilling in ANWR would devastate this treasured public land, its wildlife and its Indigenous people. Will you donate now to protect this amazing land, its communities and wildlife?

The Arctic is already at the breaking point. It’s warming twice as fast as the rest of the planet. Any prospect of drilling there needs to be taken off the table. With your generous support, we know we can take Big Oil & Gas down. There’s no compromise to be had. Join the fight against drilling in the Arctic and on all public lands. Donate now, and together we’ll protect these pristine places.
