With the congressional hearing into the Jan. 6 attack now in full swing, I wanted to take a moment and remind you how my opponent Ken Calvert handled Jan. 6 before and after the attack.
Let’s recap:
- Despite zero evidence supporting Donald Trump's election fraud claims, Calvert parroted Trump’s talking points and voted against certifying the 2020 presidential election results in Arizona and Pennsylvania.
- After Trump spurred on a mob of his supporters -- who then breached the Capitol and attacked multiple Capitol officers along the way -- Calvert still voted against forming an independent commission to investigate and hold those responsible to account.
- Despite millions in damages, clear violence against law enforcement, and threats to harm sitting members of Congress, Calvert said he hoped the charges against those responsible would be dropped.
To the press, Calvert claims he hopes that “something like that never happens again,” but his actions speak louder than his words. He refuses to hold anyone accountable, and he would rather placate his highest profile endorser in Donald Trump than uphold the rule of law.
If Calvert won’t recognize this was an attack on our democracy, he has no business serving in Congress:
