This is what my fellow Dem AGs and I are doing to protect our LGBTQIA+ constituents
Friend, it’s Michigan AG Dana Nessel, and on behalf of my Democratic AG colleagues, I wanted to say Happy Pride Month!
This month and every month, I am honored to be the first openly-gay statewide elected official in Michigan’s history. I thank our state's LGBTQIA+ community and allies for their tireless efforts to promote compassion and equality year-round (not just during Pride Month!).
As Republican AGs use their positions to attack and demean transgender people, block anti-discrimination efforts, roll back protections for LGBTQIA+ veterans and servicemembers, and more, my fellow Dem AGs and I are fighting in the courts against harmful legislation on behalf of our LGBTQIA+ communities.
Personally, as Michigan’s Attorney General, I’m constantly working to make sure that Michigan is a safe and accepting state where my partner and I can raise our beautiful twin sons without the fear of judgment.
