// A LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT & CEO
Together We Can Protect Abortion Access and Reproductive Justice
Dear Colleagues:
Any day now we anticipate the U.S. Supreme Court to issue a decision that will likely end a pregnant person’s right to decide if, and when, they become a parent.
This isn’t an issue in the U.S. alone. We know there are conservative governments around the globe that are looking to the U.S’s influence and legitimacy to rollback bodily autonomy in their national law and policy. According to a European Parliament resolution [[link removed]], “non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and conservative think tanks belonging to the US Christian right have been funding the anti-choice movement globally…if Roe v Wade is overturned, it could prompt a surge in the flow of money with renewed pressure from anti-choice groups around the world.”
That’s why as gender equity funders and allies, we stand together to leverage our power for our collective liberation. Thank you to Teresa Younger, Ms. Foundation for Women, Rocio Cordoba, Funders for Reproductive Equity, Joy Messinger, Funders for Justice and Sheena Johnson and Meenakshi Menon of Groundswell Foundation and our very own Mirenda Meghelli for co-authoring and leading the invitation to philanthropy to pledge five actions that preserve and protects abortion access and reproductive justice. The pledge now has over 80 signers representing a total of several billion in annual grantmaking. Read more via the Chronicle of Philanthropy [[link removed]]. Candid’s Philanthropy News Digest highlighted the call for support of reproductive justice, [[link removed]] and we ask funders and allies alike to join this pledge to protect and fund reproductive justice.
We're stronger when we stand together. The Time is Now. [[link removed]] Join us. Pledge to support bodily autonomy and abortion access.
In solidarity,
Elizabeth
