I’m deeply upset.

Our schools should be safe places of fun, learning, and joy – like Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas was before last month’s unspeakable tragedy turned its halls into a living nightmare.

19 fourth graders and their two teachers were senselessly murdered in a horrific act of violence. That’s 21 families who will never get their loved ones back, who will never hug them or share a meal with them again. It’s devastating, and my heart goes out to them.

But let me be clear: This was completely preventable.

I am furious. I am furious at the gun lobby. I am furious at those who refuse to use their power to end the epidemic of gun violence in our nation. I am furious that we keep traumatizing our children because NRA-backed politicians won’t act.

Congress has the power to protect our kids in classrooms. I won’t ever give up on the fight for federal gun control. But state Democrats have passed gun control measures in every state they have the majority.

I’m asking you today to split a donation between Giffords PAC to further their mission and the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee to elect state Democrats who will actually do something about gun violence. There are several competitive chambers this year where Democrats would only need a few seats to win the majority and pass gun control measures. Can you chip in $10 today?
