John,

Pride is more than rainbows and parades — it’s always been about radical protest and the fight for equal rights and protection.

This Pride season, we’re sticking to the celebration’s roots and following in the footsteps of remarkable LGBTQ+ activists who took to the streets to fight for their rights. This and every month, we’ll get out there to use our voices and uplift the voices of the LGBTQ+ community across the Commonwealth and the world to demand equality for all.

Our team in Allegheny County recently registered more than 100 new voters in one day at Pittsburgh Pride, and our Chester County team registered more than two dozen new voters at a Pride celebration in the small town of Phoenixville, in less than six hours. These efforts to expand the electorate and amplify the voices of the LGBTQ+ community are a crucial part of our work for the betterment of the Commonwealth and our nation. Can you donate today to help us keep it up?

Given the current environment in the Commonwealth, which has our state legislature focusing on banning trans women from competing in sports instead of doing their job to pass the budget, it’s clear there’s a lot of work to be done.

Registering voters with ties to the LGBTQ+ community is a fundamental step in completing that work. It’s our best chance to elect officials who will implement necessary protections for the community and allow people to go about their lives without facing debilitating discrimination on a daily basis.

Encouraging others to have their voices heard, make their presence known, and be a part of something that works for the common good is the basis of pride. It’s also the basis of the New Pennsylvania Project.

There is still so much to be done and so much left to fight for, but here at NPP, we’re determined. We’re determined to create a future for Pennsylvania and a reality in which anyone and everyone has equal rights, protections, and resources in the state they call home.

John, our celebration of Pride has only just begun, but we hope you’ll join us in celebrating this step towards change. Voting may not be a cure-all, but it is one of the most important tools in our arsenal to demand equality for all. Will you donate right now to help us expand the electorate and uplift the LGBTQ+ community?

The New Pennsylvania Project was founded in May 2021 to expand Pennsylvania’s electorate, so it reflects the Commonwealth’s demographically changing population. In the next four years, NPP will engage and empower young residents and those living in under-represented communities of color and immigrant communities. We will register them to vote, provide education about the issues that matter in their neighborhoods, and mobilize people to vote in every election.
