Dear John ,
On Friday, NPR’s news station in Chicago, WBEZ, covered the Chicago congressional race where, in their words, things are “heating up,” IL-7. I’m glad to see the Chicago Sun Times, Chicago Tribune, and now NPR, all paying attention to the calls for change on the ground in IL-7, but for me the most exciting thing was hearing the recognition of the fundamental truth we know about progressives running for office:
When young progressive community members run for office they “win seats in Congress, and then when they get there they make a difference.” - Reset, WBEZ (NPR)
This race isn’t about winning an election, it is about transforming the fundamental reality for thousands of people living across the 7th Congressional District. Poverty, lack of healthcare, lack of childcare, gun violence, and poor access to education don’t have to be a daily reality.
I am running for Congress to win because, for me, winning means making a difference, and that is what my district deserves. Will you join me?

Further in the same segment, the panelists say exactly what needs to be said, “One of the arguments you hear against Danny Davis is, he’s been there for 25 years, what has he really accomplished?”
That should not be a question it is even possible to ask. We deserve a representative who shows up and fights for us every day. A representative who gets things done.
I’m ready to fight for my community every day. Will you join me?
We are 15 days out from election day. The time is now.
In Solidarity,
Kina Collins
