BREAKING NEWS:
NY Barrels Towards New Voting Rights Law That Would Prevent Repeat of 2016 Brooklyn Voter Purge, Supporters Say

Voter protection efforts have real impacts, John.

Earlier this month, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act of New York passed in the state assembly, after passing in the senate Tuesday. Governor Hochul is expected to sign it into law soon.

It’s a huge win for democracy, and we’re confident that it will prevent voter purges and anti-democratic attacks on New York elections. And it’s a strong signal that Democrats support pro-democracy reforms everywhere, even in blue states.

The passage of this bill is proof that we can make progress on voting rights — and it’s keeping us energized to stay in this fight and continue funding and supporting voter protection staff in key battleground states.

Right now, will you donate to Power the Vote to support our continued efforts to defend and expand voting rights across the country?

We Fund Voter Protection

In 2020, we ran the Democratic Party’s Voter Protection Program in Georgia, when the state flipped blue for the first time in nearly 30 years.

We pioneered a new model of voter protection, built on sustained investments and long-lasting relationships.

Now, we’re building on that success and adapting the Georgia model to fight voter suppression in other states.
