It’s time to reset our nation’s moral compass

John --

Even before COVID, nearly 700 people died every day in our country because of poverty and inequality. That’s about one person every 2 MINUTES, with barely a whisper in our political debates about this enormous loss.

We live in a nation with abundant resources. Poverty is a deadly policy choice.

That’s why we must come together this Saturday, with one purpose: To show that our system is killing poor and low-wealth people and that we REFUSE to be silent about this injustice.

Our strength comes in numbers, John. Add to our collective power at Saturday’s moral revival:

What: The Mass Poor People’s and Low Wage-Workers’ Assembly and Moral March on Washington and to the Polls

When: Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 9 AM

Join us in Washington, DC: 3rd St. NW and Pennsylvania Ave. NW

Or join us virtually

Our country is facing multiple, interlocking injustices: systemic racism, poverty, the war economy, ecological devastation, the denial of healthcare, and the distorted moral narrative of religious nationalism. When you show up, in person or virtually, you commit the long-term journey of reorienting our country’s moral compass by demanding critical policy changes, including:

  • A $15 minimum wage and guaranteed, adequate incomes for all;
  • Expanded and protected voting rights;
  • Equal protection under the law for all;
  • Health insurance for all;
  • Housing for all;
  • A clear and just immigration system; and
  • Sovereignty for Indigenous people;

Political power rests in our hands. Poor and low-income people accounted for nearly one-third of votes in the last election. On Saturday, we will show our leaders and our country that we MUST create a new path forward that centers the poor, because when we lift from the bottom, everybody rises.

I look forward to marching by your side,

Rev. Dr. William J. Barber
