Help Shape Federal Mining Policy

Reform the 1872 Mining Law

Dear John,

Reforming federal mining law is more important than ever. The rules governing hardrock mining on federal lands provide almost zero protections for Indigenous and other mining-affected communities, or the natural resources they depend on.

The Interior Department has convened an interagency working group to find ways to promote “sustainable and responsible” mining and is asking for public comments.

Tell Secretary Haaland to say no to dirty mining!

In Solidarity,

Lauren Pagel,
Policy Director, Earthworks
