As Congress holds its investigation into the circumstances and players of the January 6th riot, I think many legislators and pundits are missing the big picture.

January 6th was the result of months of built up aggression at the outcome of the presidential election. A violent mob attacking the Capitol to overturn the lawful outcome of an election is horrible. It’s even more worrying that so many elected officials either downplayed the attack, or even helped it happen.

We must remember that there is a serious risk that the lawlessness and lack of respect for democracy we saw on January 6th will repeat itself. Candidates who refuse to respect the legitimate results of our elections should be kept as far away from Congress as possible.

Max Miller has helped spread election lies for Donald Trump, and was subpoenaed by the January 6th Committee for his role in the events that led to the attempted insurrection. We can’t let an election denier represent us in congress.
