The stars and stripes that make up our flag tell a story. It's a woven tapestry illustrating our distinct American traditions of valor, perseverance, and purity.

 

It's one banner for one land of, by, and for The People.

 

Our flag was born from a bold declaration of liberty in the face of tyranny. Freedom's song is sown into the very fabric of our star-spangled standard.

 

In the twilight of a single day, it stood defiantly against the barrage of those who looked to tear us down.

 

For me, it's personal. I've worn it on my uniform - I've laid friends and colleagues to rest whose caskets were draped in it.

 

Too many have paid the ultimate sacrifice so we can live in this great nation. Today we honor our flag - the symbol of the sacrifices of those who bled and for what we stand for together in unity.
