With the primary in the rear-view, we’ve got a lot of ground to make up.

Barbara Lee for Congress

John, this is a big month for our campaign.

Last week, we won a convincing victory in the top-two primary for California’s 12th district. It was my first time running in the newly drawn district, and now we’re looking ahead to the general election.

But before that, we’ve got a major federal deadline coming up — our second Federal Election Commission (FEC) public reporting deadline of the year is on June 30th, and it will have major implications on the outlook for November’s midterm elections.

Heading into the summer when the midterm elections will start heating up, this public deadline will give everyone — voters, the media, donors, even dark money super PACs — a transparent view of our campaign finances.

But here’s the problem we’re facing: after weeks of heavily investing in our GOTV efforts for the primary election, our campaign’s cash-on-hand is low and we’ve had to make some difficult budget cuts.

Unless we see a surge of contributions before the June ends, we’re in danger of filing an extremely weak fundraising report.

That’s the exact opposite message we want to be sending with our public fundraising report, especially with the Republican opposition shattering fundraising records and raising tens of millions of dollars in their crusade to retake control of the House majority.

To get us back on track, we’re setting a $10,000 mid-month fundraising goal so that we’re primed to post a strong fundraising total for the end of the quarter on June 30th.

Can I count on you to make a donation and help us refuel our campaign after the primary victory? I’m counting on dedicated grassroots supporters like you to help reach this goal and head towards the FEC deadline in a position of strength.
