Indivisibles,

Sunday marked the six-year anniversary of the Pulse nightclub attack in Orlando, Florida that killed 49 people and wounded 53 more. The attack was staged at a known gay hotspot on Latin Night during Pride month -- Pulse is still the deadliest documented single attack on LGBTQ+ people in U.S. history.

Also on Sunday, in a sobering reminder of how short our country has come since, 31 white supremacists were arrested en route to stage a riot at Idaho Pride. The supremacist organization behind the attempt, Patriot Front, formed after the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia that brought together white supremacists, neo-nazis, and the alt-right to incite violence against marginalized communities under the guise of solidarity and strength.

During this Pride month, on the heels of Buffalo, Uvdale, and the 265 other mass shootings that have occurred this year, we Indivisibles have a responsibility to ourselves, our communities, and our LGBTQ+ siblings to do everything we can to end supremacist violence in this country. The safety and well-being of all Americans must be a fundamental building block of our goals for a democratic society.

Unfortunately, watching the January 6th hearings, we know that one party is intrinsically tied to the groups inciting this violence. MAGA Republicans have enabled the policy and rhetoric that has landed us in this situation and are, in some cases, the exact people inciting this exact violence.

To move forward, to ensure true safety and equality for all people, we must wrest power from the MAGA right.

With that, here are your weekly to-dos:

 Your 3 weekly to-dos

  1. Click here to call your senators and demand that they support Sen. Murphy’s gun safety package. While working to dismantle the Republican Party that has enabled these tragedies, we need to put as much work into preventing them from happening again as possible. Sen. Murphy’s gun safety policy is a step in the right direction towards true reform. Make sure your senators know you support it while reminding them that there’s further to go.
  2. Sign up for our Give No Ground program. Right-wing extremist violence is a Republican problem. They stoke the embers. They cater to the perpetrators. They write policies to enable further violence. We need to go all-in on making sure we defend our democracy from MAGA radicals this November. Whether it’s blocking gun reforms, gutting Roe v. Wade, or attacking LGBTQ+ kids gun safety, Republicans will continue to try to roll us back in time. We need Democrats in place to lead us into the future.
  3. Click here to call your Republican representative and ask if they asked for a presidential pardon for January 6th. The attack on our Capitol on January 6th, 2021 was an unimaginable attack on our democracy and the peaceful transfer of power. And, thanks to the hearings happening right now, we know that Republican members of our government were actively involved in this attack, and did everything in their power to get away with it. We need to know who they are. We must know who exactly attacked our Capitol, and we must hold them accountable. Call your Republican representative and demand they tell you if they asked for a pardon today!

We rely on your support to keep call pages up and running, fund ads to get the word out, and continue all the work we’re doing this year. Help us continue this work and keep Republicans from gaining control of congress by donating here to fund our work.

With the January 6th hearings happening this week, we are going to continue hearing about Republican involvement in an attempted coup. Not only did MAGA Republicans condone the riot, they encouraged an insurrection. Any Republican who continues to support the party that backed treason is complicit. It’s on us to make sure they never see office again. Let’s get to work and Give No Ground.

In solidarity,
