** Meet the Wellness Center Staff at Seneca Valley
------------------------------------------------------------

Though school’s out for summer, the Wellness Center stays open.
We are proud to introduce the Wellness Center staff who will be offering social emotional programs and enrichment activities while building trusting relationships with students and families.

Alejandra Moreno is the Mental Health Therapist at SVHS’s new Wellness Center. She was inspired to become a social worker after working at a foster care agency where she felt the positive impact of helping children and families. We are happy to have a bilingual specialist like Alejandra, who comes to us through our partner True Connection Counseling. She has an open-door policy for anyone with questions or concerns.

“Seeing inequalities in different communities & between groups inspired me to be a part of the change,” says Youth Development Specialist Brian McNeary. Brian is part of 480 Club, our partner at the SVHS Wellness Center. Coaching football is his passion because sports taught him perseverance, a lesson he hopes to pass on to Wellness Center teens.

Chris Gates describes himself as a quiet person powered by a desire to help. “My parents instilled in me a service-oriented mentality,” he says. Chris’ time as a Peace Corps volunteer in Thailand cemented his dedication to working with students. He’s also a foodie.

Jacky Diamondra Andriamalala is a Parent Outreach Worker at SVHS’s new Wellness Center. “I am delighted to help and serve students and staff with available information, resources and referrals,” she says. Jacky’s passion is helping others by providing them with the resources that can help them thrive and move forward.

Youth Development Coordinator Kary Enriquez felt lost when her family moved here from Peru. After-school programs like “Be Yourself” led her to a college degree and to SVHS’s Wellness Center. “Many of us just needed to find the place we felt welcome, to join something after school, that little push to graduate from high school, to become successful in life,” she says.

Youth Development Specialist Tonei Fountain is an MCPS parent and alum. Tonei is part of Emerging Triumphantly, our partner at the SVHS Wellness Center. Looking back, she wishes she had had the same guidance in high school offered at the WC. Now a doctoral candidate, Tonei specializes in LGBTQ2S+ youth and families. “One of my passions is teaching youth how to navigate their social-emotional journey as they transition into adulthood.”

Case Manager Ligia Gomez admires the resilience of SVHS families. As an immigrant herself – and a parent - she knows how much the Wellness Center programs and services can help the whole family. It’s one way she fulfills her personal passion to contribute to democracy.

Program Facilitator Rebeca Monterroso is a SVHS alum, who says past work with autistic kids opened her eyes and mind about ways to help the young people she now meets at the SVHS Wellness Center. But she’s no longer a student, so please stop telling her to go back to class!

As an Identity client, Juan Arango Millan was inspired by Teresa Wright who taught him to never give up on a student. As a Youth Development Specialist, his passion is to carry that lesson forward at the SVHS Wellness Center. Among Juan’s other passions is activism: he is the President of the International Academy of Kindness in the Americas, where he works to build peace through art.
