Friend — This may be the longest email I’ll ever send you, so I really hope you’ll take the time to read the whole thing.
I think it’s time I shared with you our team’s strategy to replace Mike Lee and represent Utah in the U.S. Senate. Because when you’re taking on a 12-year incumbent with full party backing, you need a thorough, step-by-step plan.
But before I go any further: Will you make a $25 donation to help us on the path to victory and bring more independent leadership to Washington?
Step 1: Reach Out To All Utahns, Regardless Of Party Affiliation
Look, our campaign is doing things differently. I’m not running for Senate as a Republican or a Democrat, so we can’t rely on “normal” partisan support to carry us to victory.
Instead, I’m running as an independent to represent Utah’s values first. And that means reaching out to ALL Utahns, from every corner of the state, to make sure I’m putting your interests at the forefront of this campaign.
Sure, the Utah Democratic Party formally voted to join our coalition, and the United Utah Party endorsed our campaign, but we aren’t stopping there.
We’ve built a robust field organizing staff to help us meet voters face-to-face and set up community events across the state. And our digital team helps us engage with folks online, through ads, via email, or over text messaging.
We’re focused on earning the support of all Utahns, regardless of their political affiliation, and that means building a cross-partisan coalition of principled Republicans, Democrats, independents and unaffiliated Utahns.
It’s our shared responsibility to change the way Washington works for Utah — and that starts by running a campaign that gives ALL Utahns a voice.
Step 2: Say ‘No’ To Special Interests
From the beginning, I’ve committed to not taking ANY campaign contributions from corporate PACs or special interests groups. Unlike far-right Senator Mike Lee, I refuse to be in the pocket of partisan groups or extremist organizations.
That’s because the powerful special interests in Washington have gained far too much influence in our politics. And it’s hurting both Utah and our country.
In order to solve our nation’s most pressing issues, we need politicians who are willing to stand up to these dark-money groups. And that means electing leaders who prioritize country and community over party and special interests.
That’s the focal point of our campaign — and why I’m relying on grassroots supporters like you to help us fight back and defeat the special interest groups funding Mike Lee’s campaign.
Step 3: Find Common Ground Solutions To The Issues That Matter
Washington is divided and broken. The extremes in our politics are doing great harm and it’s putting our nation at risk.
Our leaders are catering to these extremes and failing to address our greatest challenges, from the rising costs that are hurting our families and businesses to the forest fires and water shortages that are a threat to our everyday life.
We can still solve these issues — but only if we elect more independent leaders who are committed to working across the aisle and finding common ground to give us solutions that move us forward.
I’m running for the U.S. Senate to put Utah first and change the way things get done in Washington so that we can start dealing with the real issues that matter.
But I can’t get there without the support of grassroots donors like you who are willing to step up and replace the status quo.
That’s why I’m personally asking you to make a grassroots donation of $25 or more right now so we can carry out our campaign strategy and deliver more independent leadership to Washington. Please, any amount helps.
Gratefully,
Evan McMullin
