Y'all, here’s a little story about Lina Hidalgo’s Republican opponent, Alex Mealer.
In February 2021, Mealer was working for Wells Fargo's Energy department.
That month, a historic winter storm froze natural gas wells and pipelines across Texas, leading to gas shortages that shut down power plants and heating systems from the panhandle to the Gulf.
Numerous Texans lost their lives.
But Wells Fargo made MILLIONS OF DOLLARS in natural gas trades, selling to utilities at sky-high prices as they struggled to keep the lights on.
And now, thanks to bankers like Mealer, utilities and customers both faced historically high gas and power bills — $45 higher per month thanks to profiteering from the storm.
In short: During the 2021 winter storm and blackout, Lina was hard at work providing vital emergency services for Harris County residents, while Alex Mealer was working for an investment bank that was making millions off of our suffering.
The difference couldn’t be starker. Please donate whatever you can today to help re-elect Lina and block Alex Mealer from coming anywhere near a leadership position. [[link removed]]
