Show your solidarity and demand these workers be rehired

John –

The recent momentum behind the Green New Deal has inspired workers from across the country to ensure green jobs are good jobs. One group in particular, solar installers at the NYC solar company Bright Power, voted to form one of the first ever unions at a solar company. But before they could finalize a contract, these clean economy workers were fired.

What happened at Bright Power is absolutely unacceptable and shows us that we need to ensure a workers right to unionize is protected in the growing clean economy.

We’re teaming up with Sunrise Movement and others to drive as many letters to the Bright Power CEO as we can. Can you send a letter to Jeffrey Perlman, the CEO of Bright Power, demanding that the company rehire these workers and formally recognize their union?

The workers at Bright Power often worked under dangerous conditions—in hazardous weather, without basic safety protocols in place.

Luckily, other clean tech companies are getting it right. When manufacturers at the electric bus company Proterra recently formed a union, the company’s leadership voluntarily recognized the union and pledged to sign a community benefits agreement. This means the company is committed to working with local nonprofits to recruit and train women, formerly incarcerated people and workers from underserved communities. An inclusive green economy means advancing equity, creating good jobs, and tackling climate pollution.

This is our opportunity to send a message that anyone who wants to build the clean energy economy needs to pay good wages, maintain safe working conditions, and protect their workers' right to organize. Green jobs should be good jobs.

Can you show your solidarity to these workers and send a letter to the boss at Bright Power?

Thanks for all you do,

-The Green For All Team
