Our slate of GOP opponents has embraced extreme ideologies. They’ve failed to condemn the Jan. 6th insurrection – and even claimed it was not, in fact, an insurrection. This blatant denial poses a genuine threat to our democracy.

In just a few weeks, voters will head to the polls for the GOP primary in our district. Consistently, our Republican opponents have embraced extreme ideologies that will undermine our democracy, but you don’t have to take my word for it.

To give you an idea of what’s on the line, at a recent campaign forum, when asked whether January 6th was an insurrection, our opponents said the following:

“It was actually a group of Americans exercising their first amendment right and as a result of that, they’ve been persecuted, they’ve been shamed, they’ve been forced out of their jobs, they’ve been forced to retire. And listen, folks, the double standard is sickening.”

“I resent it being called an ‘insurrection’ because it was not.”

“So my personal belief is it was not an insurrection”

“I think January 6th was an attempt for redress of grievances. I mean we’ve seen leaks from the January 6th Committee, from the Dems that are victimizing, and making a target of a Supreme Court Justice’s wife - Ginni Thomas.”

“No, it was not an insurrection”

But we’re defending this seat – and our democracy – by campaigning hard to re-elect Abigail Spanberger.
