Dear Reader,
Pittsburgh has changed a lot over the last 10 years, and so has PublicSource. We’ve grown from one employee to a newsroom of 14, covered three mayoral administrations, and reported on creativity, struggle, tragedy and growth in our region. But the reason PublicSource exists at all, and the reason our team shows up to work every day, has been constant:
We believe that the people of the Pittsburgh region deserve free, independent coverage about things that matter in their communities.
We believe context matters. We believe that “how” and “why” are just as important questions to ask as “what” and “when.”
We believe that high-quality news helps communities thrive. We believe that when everyday people are able to find answers to their questions, when elected officials and powerful interests know we’re holding them accountable and when leaders know about the challenges facing the people they represent, all of our communities are better for it.
And we believe that we can count on our readers to support this service.
Although this work offers great value, it also comes at great cost, and our ability to continue providing this service depends on our readers. We need to raise $20,000 by June 30 to meet our budget goals for this fiscal year, and unlike other news sources, we do not use a paywall to cover our costs. You’re not a current member of PublicSource. Can you help ensure this public-service journalism continues to thrive?
