The fight for LGBTQ+ liberation is deeply intertwined with the movement for reproductive justice. Both center the human right to bodily autonomy and fight for our right to live free from harassment, violence, and discrimination.
As we celebrate our communities this month, we are also bracing for a Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. This case has the potential to overturn Roe v. Wade, which affirmed the federal constitutional right to abortion in 1973. If the court does overturn Roe, it is estimated that 26 states will ban abortion, forcing people seeking care to travel out of state or seek options outside the health care system.
We’ve been preparing for this moment and want you to know that we are here with you. When we fight, we win. We encourage you to join us online or in-person (if you can!) as we work to advance reproductive justice and increase access to abortion.

Self-Managed Abortion with Pills Teach-in
Thursday, June 30, 2022
5:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Outside the Supreme Court, 1 First St NE, Washington, DC 20543
As access to in-clinic abortion care becomes increasingly more limited, more people will be look outside the health care system for options. Equip yourself now with information about what will happen if Roe is gone.
Reproaction is taking to the streets to declare that information about self-managed abortion belongs to all of us. This teach-in will provide context about the current state of abortion access in the United States, teach you about the protocol for self-managed abortion with pills, and show you how you can take action in your community.
Anti-abortion fake clinics, also known as crisis pregnancy centers, operate under the guise of providing medical care and social services so they can dissuade and misled those seeking abortion care. We know that abortion is safe, and it’s time for anti-abortion fake clinics to stop shaming people in our communities for their reproductive choices.
This training will help you learn how to identify anti-abortion fake clinics, understand so-called ‘abortion pill reversal,’ and provide tips for how you can take action in your community. We will talk about the impact anti-abortion disinformation has on health care access, policy and our communities.
We are so excited to share that our monthly "Pro-Choice Presence" in support of the patients, doctors and staff at Falls Church Healthcare Center in Falls Church, Virginia is back for the Summer!
We'll stand outside the clinic, where the Falls Church Healthcare Center staff and escorts can see us, and be a supportive, positive presence to counter the negativity of anti-choice protesters. We will *not* be counter-protesting or engaging with anti-abortion protestors, but rather focusing on uplifting the people accessing and delivering reproductive healthcare services.
Tell Google to stop profiting from anti-abortion disinformation by helping lies displace evidence-driven healthcare, through our friends at the Center for Countering Digital Hate. Sign the petition here.
Self-Care
Self-care is an intentional practice that roots us in the present despite the oppression we may face. Regular self-care is essential for sustainable and effective activism.
Here are our self-care tips for June:
Read a fiction book! Author Malorie Blackman said, "Reading is an exercise in empathy; an exercise in walking in someone else's shoes for a while." When we close the book, it can challenge us to let our imagination run wild with envisioning a better world. - Kenyatta, organizing fellow based in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ask yourself what you need: Christine Arylo said that self-care is asking yourself what you need every day and then making sure you get it. I like to put my hand over my heart and breathe in slowly through the nose, then out through the mouth. Repeat a few times and ask yourself what you need. My body's answers have ranged from sunshine or a swipe of perfume oil for an olfactory delight to a mug of steaming Earl Grey tea or even a nap! - Sara, organizing fellow based in Arnold, Missouri.
Unplug! As we anticipate a Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization this month, it’s more important than ever to be mindful of how we engage with social media. Taking breaks can keep us grounded and help us sustain our activism. After all, this work is a marathon, not a sprint. - Caitlin, outreach and culture manager based in Alexandria, Virginia.
