Happy Pride month, John!
June is a time for lifting up and celebrating our LGBTQ+ loved ones and leaders. Love is love, and every New Mexican should be free and empowered to be their full, authentic selves.
Pride started as a way to commemorate the fight for LGBTQ+ rights one year after activists like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera fought back against police raids at the Stonewall Inn of New York City in 1969. Every year since, Pride marches and parades have taken place in cities and communities across the country as a way to keep speaking up for LGBTQ+ rights.
Here in New Mexico, I had a blast attending Albuquerque Pride this past Saturday. It was such a fun and heartwarming event with LGBTQ+ activists, community members, and allies.
When we defeat right-wing extremist Yvette Herrell — who voted against the Equality Act and stokes anti-trans hate — I will take the fight for LGBTQ+ rights to Congress, representing every member of NM-02 equally in Washington.

Thank you for being on this people-powered team, and happy Pride!
