The centerpiece of the Health Affairs Journal Club meeting in June is,
"Frequency Of Indirect Billing To Medicare For Nurse Practitioner And
Physician Assistant Office Visits
,"
which examines how the widespread use of indirect billing for the
services of physician assistants (PA) and nurse practitioners (NP) has
resulted in an undercount of these providers in the health care system.

The authors of the study-including Sadiq Patel, a research fellow at
Harvard's Blavatnik Institute for Health Care Policy, who will present
the paper-devised a new way to measure indirect billing using
prescriptions that yields important insights into the role these
providers play in caring for Medicare enrollees.

Please join Dr. Patel on June 16 for a detailed discussion of the
paper's data, methods, and policy conclusions. Health Affairs
Executive Editor Don Metz will host.
