The recent massacres at Tops supermarket, Geneva Presbyterian Church, and Robb Elementary School are gutting. We wanted to acknowledge the impact that all of this has on our daily lives. Love146 CEO and co-founder Rob Morris shared his thoughts on how the world SHOULD be a safe place for children. He added, "We will continue, by our daily actions, to make that more than a possibility, but a reality."

Summer should be a time for thriving, not exploitation – and it’s your donation that makes it possible for us to be here for children impacted by trafficking. We created a video that explains why youth are uniquely at risk during the summer. Love146 Chief Programs & Strategy Officer Erin Williamson shares, "School offers a lot. School offers food, counselors, guidance counselors, and health care - all of which go away during the summer. We need to work really closely with survivors to make sure that they that still feel cared for, connected, and making healthy choices."

For the vast majority of youth who are LGBTQ+, the systems setup to protect and build resilience – family, laws, religion, peers groups… — can be stigmatizing and ostracizing, making children feel shame rather than pride. Because of these responses from family, community, and society, LGBTQ+ youth end up disproportionately harmed by issues like homelessness, suicide, and human trafficking. We need to do better.

For youth recovering from trafficking, reentering or entering a school community is an essential step in healing. This can be difficult to do as students are processing their trafficking experiences. In this webinar, you’ll hear strategies you can implement in your schools, including trauma-informed approaches, communicating with the young person and their families, and implementing individualized supports. Check out this with Love146 and other anti-trafficking leaders so you can add tools to your toolbox as you support young people who've experienced child trafficking.

May was Asian American, Native Hawaiian, And Pacific Islander Heritage Month! We celebrated AAPI colleagues and partners who are shaping our history as an organization and fighting to address disparities in their work ending child trafficking and helping support children in their vulnerabilities. We featured a few of the many important leaders in our collective fight to end child trafficking: Kelly Her, Minal Patel, and “Ella” (identity concealed) of our Survivor Care program.

On June 1st we kicked off Tread on Trafficking, a wellness challenge and fundraiser to end child exploitation. Tread on Trafficking participant Zoe recently shared why she is passionate about the wellness challenge and fundraiser, "I was 8-years-old when I was first introduced to the organization Love146. It was an information night where we learned who they were and what they did. My world view changed drastically in that moment." Her story is one of many treaders across the country: dedicated to making the world a better place. Even though many treaders are off to the races, it's not too late to sign up.

The National Human Trafficking Hotline (1-888-3737-888) gives free, confidential, one-on-one support. People may be unsure whether their or someone else's situation warrants a hotline call. We created a blog post about when to call the hotline with helpful resources. If you or someone else is in an emergency, always call 911. But when you suspect exploitation for yourself or others, the hotline can connect you with agencies that can get you shelter, counseling, legal services, and other help.

Love146 CEO and co-founder Rob Morris joined the C-Suite Blueprint Podcast from our friends at Intevity to discuss the movement to end child trafficking. He shared how important defiant hope is in this mission: "In the midst of what looks like growing despair and darkness and growing cynicism in the world, I think pushing against that and insisting on another world, and potentially being a part of bringing that, is defiant hope."

The internet is a great place to connect with others, enjoy funny content, and learn new things. However, when it comes to kids, it’s important that they know about some of the danger that can exist online and how they can better keep themselves safe. As safe adults in their lives, you are a key player in helping kids stay safe online. We put together do's and don'ts for you to share with your child about how to be safe on the internet.

The Independent recently published a piece about UK charities sounding the alarm about the UK Government's flawed age-assessment system. Love146 was referenced about how these mistakes can further displace trafficking survivors. Our tweet was embedded in the article, "Combine incorrect age assessments, making it harder for trafficking survivors to be recognised, and a plan to send vulnerable asylum seekers to Rwanda and you have the perfect storm for children being deported more than 4,000 miles away."
