John, I wanted to make sure you saw my team’s email.
I was shocked when I saw this news. Democrats in this county in Texas couldn’t even cast their ballots because of Texas’ laws around management of polling locations.
This is exactly the kind of voter suppression that Power the Vote is working to STOP .
But John, we need your help. Please donate any amount right now to help us expand our voter protection programs. Your support has never been more critical. [[link removed]]

In March, when Texas voters headed to the polls to cast their ballots in the Texas primary election, voters in one county were greeted with this sign:

In Texas, election judges, who are in charge of polling places, are appointed by the county political parties.
During the March primaries, polling places in some Texas counties closed because of a shortage of election judges. That’s bad enough. But in other counties, Democratic voters couldn’t vote – anywhere, at all – because of a lack of Democratic-appointed election judges.
It’s critical that we recruit Democratic election judges who are strong believers in democracy.
But this hasn’t been easy. Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, states across the country have seen serious drop-offs in people willing to be election judges. This problem has been exacerbated by the new Republican voter suppression law, S.B.1, which created new threats of criminal liability for election judges and has deterred some election judges from serving again.
Where does that leave us? Well, as we saw earlier in March, it left some Democratic voters unable to even cast a primary ballot on Election Day.
We need to put a stop to voter suppression like this. Please, donate any amount the Power the Vote right now. We’re building year-round voter protection programs in states across the country, including in Texas, and we need your help: [[link removed]]

We Fund Voter Protection
In 2020, we ran the Democratic Party’s Voter Protection Program in Georgia, when the state flipped blue for the first time in nearly 30 years.
We pioneered a new model of voter protection, built on sustained investments and long-lasting relationships.
Now, we’re building on that success and adapting the Georgia model to fight voter suppression in other states.
