The Left’s Attacks on Supreme Court Reach Disturbing New Levels

Intimidation: Sen. Mike Lee visited Heritage to talk about his book on court-packing, and he had some choice words to say about the left’s attempts to intimidate Supreme Court justices. (Including an assassination attempt last week against Justice Brett Kavanaugh.)

Court packing: Lee also recounted the lasting and terrible effects President Franklin Roosevelt’s intimidation tactics—including his attempt at court-packing—had on the country.

Heritage Expert Stands Up to the Mob, Offers Real School Safety Solutions

What’s new: Heritage legal fellow Amy Swearer testified Wednesday before the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, offering school safety solutions that would work and explaining why the anti-gun ideas pushed by the left are impractical and unconstitutional.

Stirring the hornet’s nest: In the wake of her testimony, Keith Olbermann called her “a grotesque caricature of a human being,” Rep. Katie Porter falsely accused her of perjury, while others unleashed a barrage of slander, mean tweets, and blatant misogyny.

Biden’s Budget-Busting Binge—Just How Bad Is It?

The spin stops here: President Joe Biden repeatedly tries to take credit for reducing the federal budget deficit. But new charts from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office show the opposite. The situation will get exponentially worse if the Biden administration continues with its plans.

Our take: “Only sustained pressure can change Washington’s broken and dysfunctional internal culture. Our future depends on it,” writes Heritage policy analyst David Ditch.

Nation Suffers ‘Incredible Transition’ as Gas Prices Top $5

Breaking records: The nationwide average gas price topped $5, a record high that President Joe Biden calls part of an “incredible transition” to “clean” energy.

The pain is the point: “The Biden energy agenda isn’t a conspiracy. It is an uncomplicated array of policies all aimed at one obvious goal,” write Heritage President Kevin Roberts and Executive Vice President Derrick Morgan.

ALWAYS ON OFFENSE

A Big Win Against ‘Rogue Prosecutors’

classroom202.jpeg

Past the breaking point: Voters in San Francisco recalled Chesa Boudin, the rogue San Francisco prosecutor funded by leftist billionaire George Soros, in the wake of a huge crime spike in the city.

Politics over safety: Heritage has warned against these prosecutors’ refusal to enforce entire categories of duly enacted laws at the expense of voters.

Doomed from the start: “Boudin’s recall is significant not just for the voters in the City by the Bay, but nationally, as it is the clearest signal yet that the rogue prosecutor movement, as we have been saying, is a colossal failure,” write Charles “Cully” Stimson, deputy director of the Meese Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, and legal fellow Zack Smith.

Learn more: Read more about the end of Boudin’s reign here. Check out Heritage’s extensive coverage of rogue prosecutors here.
