ProPublica’s summer member drive begins today. For the next two weeks, I’ll be checking in with you, explaining how we operate as a newsroom, highlighting some of our best stories and hopefully convincing you to join us with a donation to support our critical work.

ProPublica is a nonprofit, Pulitzer-prize winning, investigative newsroom, and we have a singular mission: to produce deep-dive, nonpartisan journalism that spurs real-world change. We’re not subsidized by one wealthy owner or donor, and we have no shareholders looking to make a profit off our work. Our journalism is a public service, free for everyone, and we are funded largely with donations from tens of thousands of individuals just like you. Among many other examples, the report highlights recent impact from The Secret IRS Files, our ongoing investigation exposing the ways America’s billionaires avoid the same kinds of taxes that the rest of us pony up each year: This past March, President Biden proposed a new minimum tax for the ultrarich <[link removed]>, which, if enacted, could add up to $360 billion in revenue over the next 10 years.
