When I look back on the progress we’ve made, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude.
From becoming the first Black candidate in Kentucky to win the Democratic primary, to receiving endorsements from iconic progressive leaders like Bernie Sanders – our campaign is gaining serious momentum. 🔥
We built this campaign from the ground up. When we started, we didn’t have a million dollars in the bank to fall back on or support from the political establishment.
But we did have a story. So many of you graciously listened to the story of my family. I grew up in one of the poorest ZIP codes in Kentucky. Both of my parents had to drop out of high school to help take care of my brothers and sisters. We sometimes had to go without heat in the winter or air conditioning in the summer. My mom often went without eating so that I could.
Seeing how my story resonated with so many of you was a powerful reminder that my story isn’t unique at all. Millions of families are still struggling to reach the same goals and aspirations of my family.
That’s why I’m running to take on Rand Paul and give our families the representation they deserve in the Senate.
